In the Begining...
"There were Five bands of wanderers, Nomads that journeyed the world, The Goddess and God, Luna and Solaris, brought them together for reasons that none living would ever know. Upon the site where they were brought together, The Great Temple was built. For a time things were peaceful, but as each band grew and grew, tension built between them. The Goddess and God then planted an idea in the minds of the Head Priests and Priestesses of each Band, They would become Kingdoms, and the Bears, the monk-like Bears, would serve as mediators for negotiations of peace. and such it was settled; there would four Kingdoms. From the North, the magical Dragonkin and reptiles reigned. From the East, came the Agile and graceful Felines. The South held the Flyers, ever peaceful and intelligent. the West belonged to the Dogs of War, Canines that specialized in the arts of war. The Goddess and God took the lands of their children, and gave it lift, rising it above the land, and a Sea grew in it's place. The kingdoms decided to call their new home, Averonia...
For One thousand years these four kingdoms reigned separate. Each year, a representative of each kingdom was sent to the Middle Lands, the home of the Monk-like Bears. Their territory was declared a neutral ground for negotiations of peace and policy. for one thousand years it remained this way and peace reigned supreme. Such was The Way.
just below the floating lands of Averonia, the Humans were just starting to grow into a flourishing empire of kingdoms. the humans were arrogant and foolhardy, Thinking they the supreme rulers of the lands. The waged war on the other kingdoms around them. The Prey kingdoms fell hard and journeyed up to Averonia. Petitioning the kingdoms for help. Five heros took up the call and fought against the humans to protect the prey kingdoms. Little by little the prey kingdoms were integrated into Averonia.
As time wore on, the Heroes proved Victorious, but when they returned home they noticed that their kingdoms were in dissary. Civil Wars broke out in many of the kingdoms, save the flyers, but it was a tense time even there. The Heroes then and there decided that a council would be formed. The Five Heros, Keirian, Baju-Lairei, Seirack, Nataji, and Tai-Kah, Set up a Council of Heroes Upon the ruins of the very site where Their Ancestors had worshiped their Goddess Luna and God Solaris." ~ The Tome of Tai-kah, 2nd Generation, passages 1, 4, 5, & 6
Above is taken from one of the oldest tomes that remain fit for reading. What is little known is the Tome of Nataji, a tome kept far down within the castle Shikitaama, down in the depths of the castle that holds the family of Raven-kin. As of yet, the Patriarch of the clan, Karnai, has kept this one room a secret unto himself and a shadowed twin he dreads to see. the following is a passage from that text, never seen to the light of anyone else in all the world. (Meaning this is OOC knowledge and NO ONE knows about this, not even you, Helion)
"In the beginning.. Ijatan and I were happy, we lived in Aviana, as our parents had so named the land for which the flyers had come to live, in the south lands of Averonia, our new home gifted by the Goddess and Consort themselves. I have learned that I will be groomed as new ruler when my father and his wife step down from their posts in 5 summers time. This news did not make Ijatan very happy at all. We were so close, my twin and I. We, like few others, were soul twins. Twins who were born of the same soul. I feel bad for Ijatan, I never ment to hurt him. It was one summer later when I felt sick, not of heart.. but of soul. I could not tell mother and father, they would say I am just being paranoid, with talks of other missing children, our criminals, who we cast down to the lands below us. They had been seen above once more.
4 Summers past, since Ijatan had gone missing, and my soul grew sicker still I was made ruler of Aviana, but also councilman, since my twin had not been found. It had been at this point, that the others proclaimed him dead, but I knew different. In the dead of night I went to the portal we used to send Criminals down to the shadow lands, disguised in pitch black cloak, hiding my house ensignia. At my back was Baju-Lairei, my best friend and the only one i knew I could count on to not tell a soul, even if I had to wipe his memory with a puppet's control spell. I hid blades beneath my cloak, and Baju spoke to the guards that this was a criminal the council wanted gone in secret, no word would ever pass that they were hear. The guards of course were sckeptical, but it was King Lairei telling them this, surely nothing bad would happen.
Through the portal I went, I was welcomed with applause by others, the shadowlands, as it had been called by the people that lived there. Criminals and villians all of them. Through subtle informations, I heard of the dark castle, where their leader was and pretending to be interested in joining the elite guard, I got pointed right to it. I inquired about Ijatan, subtly so, pretending like he owed me money. I was told a notion so foul I had scarsely believed it.. How could my own flesh and blood, who had been so eager to bring Aviana to thrive, be the leader of a band of criminals? Had he been so far into the darkness as to wish to rule in this wastleland? I knew I had to find out, I had to bring him home. I felt the soul sickness spreading, it hurt, far deeper than I ever knew possible.
Nothing could have prepared me for what I saw that day. My own brother, engulfed in a shadow so dark.. I decided to rush him then, only to be taken down by his own shadows. He went on and on about the rush of power he felt, that he was wanted here, though I swore that he was wanted back home, by me if no one else. He said this wasn't good enough for him, he had soul his being to a shadow so evil. He had become the darkness, and forsook his name, that Ijatan was from then on. My soul I knew, as he confirmed. Was poisoned. I knew then it would kill me in time, if I didn't kill Ijatan first..." ~the Secret Tome of Nataji.
